DIRECTOR OF NEWSLETTERS


 

ROLE DESCRIPTION: Elected or appointed volunteer reporting to the VP of Communications, responsible for preparing and distributing Chapter newsletters in line with media and marketing policies and ensuring compliance with PMI’s Media Guidelines and brand standards for Chapters.

Estimated Volunteer Hours per Month: 15–25

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow the Chapter’s media strategy and media policy
  • Ensure compliance with PMI’s Media Guidelines and brand standards for chapters
  • Provide leadership to other teams on the most effective methods of using the Chapter newsletter presence for their needs
  • Stay abreast of newsletter trends and advise the Chapter if and how to leverage them
  • Learn about tools and applications that can enhance and/or automate newsletter activities
  • Content creation as necessary, including preparing copy, pictures, and infographics
  • Curate content, finding and sharing information of interest to the Chapter’s audience while respecting copyright law
  • Work closely with Director of Web Content and Director of Social Media for the integrity and effectiveness of communications
  • Elevate the profile of the project management profession by disseminating PMI’s thought leadership and research to a regional audience
  • Send out a reminder to the Chapter President at the first week of Dec for preparing seasonal greetings in the year end newsletter
  • Develop or update a succession plan and training materials for this volunteer role

 

STRATEGIC AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS:

  • Basic Understanding or Desire to Learning/Utilize newsletter creation tools (StarChapter)
  • Basic Understanding of Publishing
